Towards generative and ontological AI (Episode 10)

On 4 August 2023

Ontological AIs are probably the next big step in increasing the strategic capabilities of the HR function. An ontology is a conceptual tool that describes the real world and its various objects, their properties and relationships. It is a logical model for representing the knowledge of a specific domain, in a way that can be shared by multiple users and systems.

Ontologies are proving very useful for communicating and sharing information between people and IT systems. They are also used to model knowledge, organize and retrieve information, and reason and make decisions. All generative AIs have a similar basis of operation to ontological AIs, and differ mainly in their use, which is oriented towards content generation, whereas ontological AIs are primarily used to create, maintain and identify complex structures.
